Youth LEAD

Why We Do It

Youth LEAD envisions a world in which young people from different religious, ethnic, and racial communities join together to solve local problems. Interacting with compassion, cooperation, and hope, youth leaders create a culture of pluralism, inspiring adults through their example.

Youth LEAD’s programs are founded on the following principles:

  • Teens and young adults are capable of providing strong leadership to bring communities together when given the skills and opportunities.

  • Individuals strengthen their own identities and understanding of others when encouraged to share their beliefs and listen deeply to the beliefs of others.

  • Different communities can treat each other with respect and hope, not fear and mistrust.

  • It is hard to hate or stereotype people when you hear their personal stories and learn about them as human beings.

    Youth LEAD, Inc. (Youth Leaders Engaging Across Differences)‘s Mission:

    To inspire and mobilize youth leaders to reflect upon their values and beliefs, connect with others across differences, and act together to address local and global challenges.

    Formerly Interfaith Action, Youth LEAD Inc. has a small, dedicated staff, consulting support team, wonderful community volunteers, terrific folks on our boards and the support of people like you.

    Youth LEAD, Inc. is known for its Youth Leadership Program and is a founding partner in the Sharon Pluralism Network.

  • Our History

    Youth LEAD, formerly known as Interfaith Action, began in the late 1990’s with a small youth interfaith group and now is an important trailblazer for a growing interfaith youth leadership movement with its Youth Leadership Program.  Youth LEAD is a founding partner in the Sharon Pluralism Network, formed in 2007 to forge new ways of fostering pluralism among community organizations in Sharon, MA.
