Community Initiatives
About Community Initiatives
Community Initiatives are community programs and/or public events that serve to connect people, strengthen communities and celebrate our shared humanity. These programs are driven by the combined energies of the Sharon Pluralism Network (SPN) and SPN affiliated partner organizations, Interfaith Action Youth Leadership Program participants and community volunteers. We work together to find volunteers to energize and execute new program ideas and support efforts to secure funding in support of new programming. We welcome new opportunities and are open to your ideas to support and expand the vision of a joyful, shared, civil, peaceful, coexistence.

“Conversations at The Meetinghouse”
A Real Chatroom Revives a Town Tradition
David Nelson has brought the exciting return of “Conversations at the Meetinghouse” to our attention. The conversations convene on the first Fridays of each month, from 7 - 8 PM, at the Unitarian Church of Sharon, Classroom B. From the flyer:
“In colonial times, The Meetinghouse was the political, social and religious center of the community. In the 21st Century, we are a diverse community with diverse interests and activities. This series of presentations and discussions by members of the Sharon community will make The Meetinghouse function again as a place for interesting people to have a conversation about a subject they care about. Join us the first Friday of the month at 7 PM for “Conversations at The Meetinghouse.”
February 4th - Stuart Sears. “How Does the Arabic Speaking World See the U.S.”
March 4th - Dan Huse. “The Economics of the Health Care Industry.”
April 1st - Alan Klein. “The Changing Face of American Baseball.”
May 6th - Stephen Dill. “The Power of Social Media.”
They are scheduling for October now. Let David Nelson know if you would like to lead a discussion.
