YLP Format
The Youth Leadership Program follows a basic three-tier format of meetings, trainings, and projects that seeks to develop communication and facilitation skills, promote personal growth through reflection and engagement with diverse groups of people, and provide leadership experience by participating on additional committees and planning and implementing a variety of community programs and events throughout the year. Youth LEAD believes that a holistic approach to our program opportunities is the most successful method to achieving the desired growth and development of the students in our program, and encourages YLP members to find a healthy balance between attending the meetings and trainings, and participating in additional planning committees and projects. YLP members have the option of participating in each of the following:
• Meetings held twice a month on Sunday evenings from 7:00-8:30 PM at various local houses of worship. All meetings are planned and run by a group of senior leaders known as Senior Facilitators.
• Six intensive training sessions held throughout the year. The “Introduction to Communication Training” is required for all new members. The other five training sessions are optional, and YLP members may choose from a list that includes “Project Management,” “Facilitating Workshops,” “Introduction to Dialogue,” “Advanced Facilitation Techniques,” and “Advanced Dialogue Facilitation.”
• Numerous other committees, programs, and events such as the Teenage Identity and Diversity Education (TIDE) Conference; Sacred Seasons; the Interfaith Thanksgiving Program; the Fundraising and Community Service Committees; diversity workshops at Cottage Street Elementary and Attleboro High School; and much more!
